Job summary

TemPositions Group of Companies is seeking a Hearing Representative for Special Education Claims to support a NYC agency backlog initiative. The role is remote on a 1+ year assignment, representing the agency through intake to resolution or settlement in administrative hearings.

Required: active bar license in good standing in any U.S. state and at least 1 year of litigation experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual tools, plus willingness to work flexible Eastern Time zone hours.

Qualifications

• Active bar license in good standing in any U.S. state.
• Minimum of 1+ years of recent litigation experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual tools.
• Experience with administrative law or IEP/special education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Case Management: Manage a high-volume caseload of 100–200 special education claims.
• Representation: Prepare for and/or litigate complex cases during hearings and settlements.
• Administrative Process: Navigate procedural requirements under federal/state education laws.
• Documentation: Prepare and review filings, agreements and reports with accuracy.
• Settlement Negotiation: Work with parents and opposing counsel to reach fair resolutions.
• Training and Collaboration: Coordinate with specialists and attorneys; train staff on compliance.
• Research and Compliance: Analyze case law and guide on hearing orders for involved parties.
