Job summary

Umpqua Health is seeking a Solutions Engineer to design, develop, and implement software solutions that support health plan operations. You will work across IT, decision support, quality, clinical operations, and finance to ensure systems run efficiently and securely.

The role emphasizes full-stack development, SQL Server optimization, BI capabilities, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Remote work within Oregon is supported, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a salary range aligned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; 10+ years in software development or solutions engineering, preferably in health plan environments.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.
• Extensive knowledge of database technologies, networks, and server operating systems/hardware.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or C# for application development and system integration.
• RESTful APIs, HL7 standards, and healthcare interoperability knowledge.
• Experience with HIPAA and CMS regulations.
• Relational database administration with Microsoft SQL Server; Windows Server environments and SQL Server.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of software solutions for health plan operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and support full-stack web applications and codebases focusing on performance and scalability.
• Architect database schemas, data models, and backend services for reporting and member outcomes.
• Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and C# applications with .NET and third‑party integrations.
• Create data warehouse solutions, dashboards, and BI tooling with performance tuning.
• Maintain SQL Server databases, backups, disaster recovery, and reliability improvements.
• Build data movement, validation, and automation processes across systems.
