Job summary

AES is seeking an Engineer, Development – WEST to design utility-scale PV and battery storage projects in early-stage development for the US West region. You will model production, size facilities, and coordinate internal resources for layouts and interconnection applications.

The role requires strong communication and the ability to work with a distributed team, including travel to project sites. You will join a team of engineers reporting to the West region development engineering manager,

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred) or equivalent technical field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in energy system design or consulting.
• Proficiency with PVsyst, Solar Farmer, SAM and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary plant designs, site layouts and one-line diagrams for greenfield development and RFP-support.
• Select primary project equipment based on site conditions and utility requirements.
• Model energy production and battery dispatch to support cost estimates.
• Conduct remote and in-person site evaluations for project feasibility.
• Provide technical due diligence on third-party data and support pricing efforts.
• Lead process and design tool improvements for cost estimation accuracy.
