Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Principal Engineer - Utility Projects to lead design and engineering for large utility-scale solar PV and battery storage projects. The role oversees third-party engineers, reviews designs, and develops procurement specs, with up to 25% travel.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in energy system design and 5+ years in project management, plus Procore and HV experience. Remote/hybrid work options available across AES US Renewables & Power offices.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or civil).
10+ years of energy system design, project or land development, and/or construction experience.
5+ years of project management, consulting, or as a project engineer.
Electrical design experience for utility-scale PV and BE SS projects.

Responsibilities

Manage third-party engineers and EPC contractors through project development.
Lead design reviews and coordinate technical specifications with Procurement and Sourcing.
Perform due diligence and engineering reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
Support commissioning activities and operations/asset management teams.
Mentor engineers and drive process improvements across projects.
Oversee field QA/QC and responses to RFIs and submittals.
