Job summary

LMI Government Consulting is seeking a Software Systems Architect to lead team-level architecture for the ATIS program under SAFe. You will translate mission needs into implementable designs, guide interfaces, and ensure secure, scalable delivery while working hands-on with developers and cross-functional teams.

The role requires strong communication, DoD familiarity, cloud experience (AWS), and a passion for reducing architectural debt while maintaining system integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering, architecture, or technical leadership experience.
• Experience with software/application architecture and system design, translating requirements into solutions.
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred) and security considerations.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating multiple systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, automation, and DevSecOps practices.
• Ability to work directly with developers through design, implementation guidance, reviews, and troubleshooting.
• Experience addressing non-functional requirements including security, performance, reliability, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Lead team-level solution design translating requirements into implementable technical designs.
• Develop and maintain the team’s architectural runway with enablers and dependencies.
• Lead interface and integration design across apps, services, data sources, and external systems.
• Define non-functional requirements including security, performance, and scalability.
• Establish technology standards and architectural guardrails with the broader direction.
• Collaborate with Product Owner to identify and prioritize technical debt.
• Create architecture diagrams, models, interfaces, and decision records.
• Mentor developers through design sessions, reviews, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure architecture supports secure CI/CD, automated testing, and operations.
• Identify dependencies early and drive technical coordination to reduce risk.
• Engage in implementation and problem solving to resolve defects and integration issues.
• Promote reusable solutions and knowledge sharing within the team.
