Job summary

LMI Government Consulting seeks a Software Systems Architect to lead team-level architectural design for ATIS program and the ALCMC delivery team. You will guide interface design, enforce guardrails, and work hands-on with developers to translate mission needs into secure, scalable solutions.

Ideal candidates have strong architectural judgment, hands-on software engineering experience, and can collaborate with DevSecOps, cybersecurity, Product Management, and QA to ensure delivery within SAFe

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
7+ years of professional software engineering, application development, or technical architecture experience.
Experience with software/application architecture and system design.
Hands-on with cloud environments (AWS preferred).
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automation, and DevSecOps.
Experience collaborating with developers through design, implementation, reviews, and troubleshooting.
Ability to address non-functional requirements (security, performance, reliability, scalability, maintainability, observability, testability).
Excellent technical communication and leadership within Agile environments.
Experience in SAFe and supporting architectural runway and PI planning.
Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
Familiarity with Army/DoD or secure mission systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead team-level solution design translating requirements into implementable technical designs.
Develop and maintain the team’s architectural runway with enablers and constraints.
Lead interface and integration design across apps, services, APIs, data sources, and external systems.
Define and guide implementation of NFRs including security, performance, and observability.
Establish technology standards, architectural patterns, and guardrails.
Collaborate with Product Owner to prioritize technical debt by mission impact.
Create and maintain architecture diagrams and decision records.
Work directly with developers through design sessions, reviews, and troubleshooting.
Ensure architecture supports secure CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment.
Identify cross-team dependencies and drive coordination to reduce risk.
Remain engaged in implementation and problem solving.
