Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to help modernize the healthcare decision platform. You will work with engineers on full-stack development, APIs, cloud technologies, databases, RESTful services, and front-end work with Angular/React/TypeScript. This 12-week program is open to students who have completed their third year in CS/engineering.

No prior professional experience required. You will learn AI-assisted coding, participate in code reviews, and gain exposure to Azure/AWS and CI/CD

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Software Engineering/CE/IT or related field.
• Expected to have completed the third year of undergrad before start date.
• Completed coursework in programming, data structures, algorithms, databases or related CS disciplines.
• Foundational programming experience from coursework or projects.
• Familiarity with at least one modern language (C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++).
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts.
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub or similar version control.
• Interest in applying AI in the software development lifecycle and evaluating AI-generated output.
• No prior professional software engineering experience required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, testing, and delivery of Lyric's software platform.
• Work on modernization initiatives involving .NET, APIs, databases, cloud tech, and web apps.
• Assist with RESTful APIs and microservices for scalable architecture.
• Contribute to front-end development using Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Gain experience with relational databases like SQL Server and data modeling.
• Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, and testing.
• Learn to evaluate AI-generated code with human judgment.
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement discussions.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and CI/CD practices.
• Identify and debug defects and performance issues.
• Exposure to Azure and/or AWS and cloud deployment practices.
• Understand observability and monitoring for health telemetry.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, UX, DevOps, QA on requirements.
• Apply secure development practices for sensitive data.
• Participate in Agile practices and maintain technical docs.
• Complete a defined internship project and present outcomes.
