Job summary

Block seeks a full stack software engineer for its Compliance Program Engineering team. You will design, build, and operate platforms that label entities, manage transactions, and support regulatory obligations.

You’ll collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and product teams to translate complex requirements into durable, reusable capabilities. You will work across a modern stack, deliver end-to-end features, and leverage AI-powered tools to improve velocity and quality while maintaining sound

Qualifications

3+ years of software development or equivalent experience.
Experience building production software end-to-end (design, build, test, ship, operate).
Worked across the stack: backend services and user interfaces.
Ability to identify flaws in complex systems and fix them.
Curiosity for partly specified problems and asking concrete questions.
Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to engineers and non-engineers.
Demonstrated AI fluency and responsible use of AI tools.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test, ship, and operate features across transaction and labeling platforms.
Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in design/code reviews.
Design systems for microservice architectures handling sensitive data.
Improve coverage and usability of transaction data for investigators and analysts.
Build self-serve tools and high-volume data ingestion pipelines.
Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and product teams to translate requirements into platform capabilities.
Participate in on-call, incident response, and postmortems.
Demonstrate AI fluency across the development lifecycle with responsible use.
Maintain high engineering standards and mentor others.
