Job summary

Block is seeking a full‑stack software engineer to design, build, and operate the Compliance Program Engineering platforms. You will work across transaction and labeling systems, handling sensitive data with care and building scalable self‑serve tools to onboard new product types.

You’ll apply AI tools to improve velocity while upholding high engineering standards. You will collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and product teams, participate in on-call duties, and contribute to an incubator

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience with production systems.
• Experience across backend services and user interfaces.
• Ability to design and ship end-to-end features with guidance.
• Familiar with data privacy and security considerations.
• Proven ability to explain tradeoffs to engineers and non‑engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, ship, and operate features across transaction and labeling platforms.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Build systems within microservice and event-driven architectures handling sensitive data.
• Improve data coverage and usability for investigators and automated systems.
• Create self-serve tools and high-volume ingestion pipelines for onboarding new products.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and product teams to translate requirements into platform capabilities.
• Participate in on-call and postmortems to improve reliability.
• Demonstrate AI fluency by using AI-powered tools responsibly throughout development.
