Job summary

Block, Inc. is seeking a full‑stack software engineer for the Justice Engineering team to design, build, and operate services that automate legal and regulatory requests.

You will own features end to end across backend, internal tools, and pipelines, collaborate with Counsel and Compliance, and explore AI-powered tools to improve velocity while maintaining high security and privacy standards. This hands-on role covers a broad surface area with meaningful impact on how Block processes sensitive

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Experience building and maintaining production software systems end-to-end.
• Worked across the stack: backend services and user interfaces.
• Ability to identify and fix flaws in complex systems.
• Curiosity for partly specified problems and diligent questions.
• Ability to explain tradeoffs to engineers and non-engineers.
• Demonstrated AI fluency and responsible use of AI tools.
• Bachelor's Degree in CS/CE/SE or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, ship, and operate features end to end.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code; participate in design and code reviews.
• Design systems for microservice and event-driven architectures with sensitive data.
• Collaborate with Counsel, Compliance, and Operations to translate legal requirements into workflows.
• Participate in on-call, incident response, and postmortems.
• Modernize services to improve reliability and reduce toil.
• Leverage AI-powered tools across the development lifecycle with good judgment.
• Uphold high engineering standards and help peers through reviews.
