Block is seeking a risk-minded engineer to scale the SFS third-party risk management and business continuity program. You will define technical approaches, build data pipelines, and translate standards into auditable policy-code.

The role emphasizes AI-enabled governance and cross-team collaboration for reliable, compliant operations across Block and SFS. Ideal candidates have 4+ years in backend/platform/data engineering, experience with LLMs, and proficiency in Python/Java/Kotlin/Go.

Qualifications

• Experience in third-party risk management and business continuity.
• 4+ years building production software in backend, platform, data, or software engineering.
• Ownership of a production system including on-call and SLOs.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, Kotlin, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Own and operationalize a SFS third-party risk management and business continuity program.
• Define the technical approach for ambiguous, cross-team problems in an early-stage program.
• Build and operate pipelines that aggregate risk signals from multiple systems.
• Translate standards into policy-as-code with versioned, tested checks.
• Design agentic AI workflows pairing LLM reasoning with auditable decision layers.
• Automate evidence collection and continuous control monitoring.
• Partner with Security, Procurement, Resilience, and Engineering teams.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and platform reliability.
