Block is building a Compliance Program Engineering platform to unify transaction data, label entities, and automate regulatory work across its ecosystem.

You will design and operate core platforms, balancing quick value with durable foundations, and collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and product teams to meet regulatory requirements. You will work across microservices and data-intensive components with a focus on security and scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development or equivalent experience.
• Experience building and maintaining production software systems and delivering end-to-end projects with guidance.
• Worked across the stack, backend and interfaces used to operate them.
• Drive to find and fix flaws in complex systems with many moving parts.
• Curiosity about partly specified problems and asking clarifying questions.
• Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to engineers and non-engineers.
• Demonstrated AI fluency, including use of AI-powered developer tools.
• Experience with sensitive data (PII, PCI) or privacy/security/regulatory requirements.
• Experience integrating LLMs or agents into production workflows.

Responsibilities

• Partner with your team to design, develop, test, ship, and maintain features across transaction and labeling platforms.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in design and code reviews.
• Design and implement systems for microservice and event-driven architectures with sensitive data handling.
• Improve coverage and usability of transaction data for investigators and automation.
• Build self-serve tools and high-volume ingestion pipelines for onboarding new products and labeling entities.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and product teams to translate regulatory and business needs into platform capabilities.
• Participate in on-call, incident response, and postmortems.
