Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Workers Compensation Adjuster for the California team. This full-time exempt role supports a fully remote schedule and requires guiding complex casualty claims with strong investigative and negotiation skills.

You will mentor junior handlers, coordinate with legal and underwriting teams, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining high professional standards and accuracy in records and reporting.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of workers compensation claims handling experience with an insurance carrier.
• Must possess or obtain and maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses.
• Skilled in negotiating complex claims and developing strategies for high-exposure cases including litigation and compliance matters.
• Mentors others and supports training initiatives in claims handling.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage moderate to complex, high-value casualty claims, with thorough investigations and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to transfer risk and pursue subrogation; negotiate effectively and manage litigation as needed.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards; maintain detailed records and prepare reports.
• Set reserves, authorize payments, and make financial decisions within authority.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents; lead cross-functional meetings.
• Use analytics to identify trends, improve handling efficiency, and protect PII.
