Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group in California is seeking a Senior Workers Compensation Adjuster to manage moderate to high-value casualty claims with minimal supervision. This fully remote role supports the California team and requires advanced investigation, negotiation, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead complex claim analysis, determine reserves, coordinate with legal and underwriting, and mentor junior handlers while delivering excellent service to insureds and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10+ years of workers compensation claims handling with an insurer.
• Must possess or obtain state adjuster licenses and CE credits.
• Skilled in negotiating complex claims and strategy development.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management.
• Understanding of regulatory environments and jurisdictional requirements.
• Willingness to travel and work on-site as needed.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage moderate to complex, high-value casualty claims with minimal supervision.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and pursue optimal outcomes through negotiations and litigation management.
• Ensure regulatory and company standards compliance; maintain detailed records and prepare reports.
• Set reserves, authorize payments within authority, and contribute to reserving accuracy.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; lead cross-functional meetings.
• Utilize analytics to identify trends and protect PII in data handling.
• Mentor junior claim handlers and support training initiatives.
