The Hanover Insurance Group in Portland, OR is seeking a Senior Workers Compensation Adjuster for our California team. This is a Full-time/Exempt, remote role focusing on moderate to high-value casualty claims with minimal supervision.

You will lead investigations, negotiate settlements, coordinate with legal and underwriters, set reserves, and mentor junior staff while upholding regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of workers' compensation claims handling with an insurer.
• Must hold state adjuster licenses and continuing education credits.
• Strong negotiation, investigative and litigation handling abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; empathetic client service.
• Highly organized with capability to manage complex workflows.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage moderate to complex, high-value casualty claims, with minimal supervision.
• Lead investigations, assess coverage, and issue documentation including reservation of rights.
• Escalate issues as needed and coordinate with legal counsel and experts.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and pursue favorable outcomes through negotiation and litigation management.
• Ensure regulatory and company standards compliance; maintain detailed records and reports.
• Set reserves, authorize payments, and make financial decisions within authority.
• Mentor junior claim handlers and support training initiatives.
