Qualifications

• College graduate or business equivalent.
• Preferably 7+ years of underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting function; John Hancock's various businesses.
• Strong knowledge of referral areas.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills; ability to define, research and resolve problems.
• Excellent ability to create and maintain customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Identify and provide solutions to work-related problems and issues (workflow, systems).
• Negotiate and manage time and resources to meet deadlines and service times.
• Provide training and act as an information resource for more junior underwriters.
• Process auditing, formal appeal reviews and contestable claim reviews.
• Audit underwriting decisions and processing for guideline adherence.
