Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for Production Support. This 100% remote US-based role supports VA systems, requiring Public Trust clearance readiness and experience with large-scale production environments.

You will manage cloud and on-prem infrastructure, implement automation, and coordinate with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure high availability and performance. This position emphasizes security, documentation, and proactive problem solving.

Qualifications

• :8+ years of systems engineering experience, production environments
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud services; familiarity with S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows OS skills; system administration
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation
• Experience with IaC tools and cloud-native tech
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows
• Security best practices and compliance awareness
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for production cloud systems
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems
• Document issues and resolutions clearly
• Collaborate with customers and teams to maintain system uptime
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure
• Implement continuous improvement through IT processes
• Maintain inventory and monitor system assets
• Ensure VA security policies are followed
• Support on-call rotations as needed
• Prepare training materials and documentation for users
