Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer focused on production support for complex cloud systems. The role is fully remote with a prime responsibility to maintain and optimize VA-based workflows and infrastructure. Strong cloud, scripting, and CI/CD experience are essential.

Minimum 8+ years in systems engineering and 3+ years on SQL query/monitoring, with a Public Trust security need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible for government clearance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering or related field, production focus.
• 3+ years with SQL queries and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for complex cloud-based systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems.
• Follow standard practices to analyze situations and data.
• Detect, isolate, document, report, and resolve outages.
• Document problems in logging/discrepancy tools.
• Work with customers on day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls and escalate when needed.
• Communicate status to users and senior management.
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Drive continuous improvement of IT systems and procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets.
• Ensure VA standards and security policies.
• Provide documentation and training as needed.
