Job summary

The Haskell Company is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Substation Protection & Control team. You will oversee and execute protection and control designs for mid-to-high voltage substations for utility and transmission clients nationwide.

Lead design packages, review documentation, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with project teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant substation designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with Power Systems or Controls concentration from ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in substation protection and controls design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review design of protection & control systems for substations (15kV-500kV).
• Develop detailed design packages: diagrams, wiring, schematics, I/O, panel layouts, BOMs, SCADA/RTU integration, construction docs.
• Review and approve documentation from internal teams or subcontractors.
• Develop relay protection philosophies and select relays; ensure compliance with codes.
• Support relay settings development and coordination studies.
• Provide technical oversight on multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery and quality.
• Mentor junior/mid-level engineers; collaborate with PMs, drafters, and field personnel.
• Occasional site visits for scoping, verification, commissioning, or coordination.
• Stay current with IEEE, NESC, NEC, and evolving T&D technologies.
