Job summary

Haskell is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to lead physical layout and design for medium to high voltage substations (15kV-500kV). You will develop complete design packages, mentor junior designers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction.

You will interpret electrical diagrams, apply IEEE/NESC/NEC standards, and integrate vendor drawings while coordinating with engineers, project management, and field staff to ensure project milestones are met.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of substation physical design experience (utility/EPC preferred).
• Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings including one-line and three-line diagrams.
• Familiarity with IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI and client-specific standards.

Responsibilities

• Create complete physical design packages for substations and retrofit projects including layouts, elevations, grounding, raceways, foundations, and control buildings.
• Coordinate with engineers and drafters to meet project requirements and standards.
• Interpret one-line and three-line diagrams to develop physical drawings.
• Apply IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI and client-specific guidelines to all design work.
• Incorporate vendor equipment drawings into design packages.
