Job summary

The Haskell Company seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Substation Protection & Control team. You will lead design and review of protection and control for 15kV-500kV substations, coordinating with project teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities include creating detailed design packages, relay selection and settings coordination, and field involvement, with adherence to IEEE/NEC standards and utility guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems or Controls concentration from ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in substation protection and controls design (wiring diagrams, schematics, relay systems).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review the design of protection & control systems for new and existing substations (15kV-500kV).
• Develop or oversee detailed design packages including diagrams, wiring, protection & control schematics, I/O and BOMs, and SCADA/RTU integration.
• Review and approve design documentation produced by internal teams or subcontractors.
• Develop relay protection philosophies, select relays, and verify compliance with codes and client standards.
• Support relay settings development and coordination studies with protection engineers.
• Provide technical oversight on multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery and quality.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers; collaborate with PMs, drafters, civil/structurals, and field personnel.
• Occasional site visits for scoping, verification, commissioning, or construction coordination.
