Job summary

Haskell is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Substation Protection & Control (P&C) team. You’ll oversee the design of protection and control systems for medium to high-voltage substations, supporting utility and transmission clients across the country.

As a technical leader, you’ll mentor junior engineers, review design documentation, and ensure safety, reliability, and high-quality standards throughout greenfield, brownfield, and relay replacement programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with Power Systems or Controls concentration from ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in substation protection and controls design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review design of protection & control systems for 15kV–500kV substations.
• Create or oversee detailed design packages: diagrams, wiring, schematics, I/O, panel layouts, BOMs.
• Review design docs from internal teams or subcontractors; ensure quality and on-time delivery.
• Develop relay protection philosophies; select relays and verify compliance with standards.
• Support relay settings development and coordination studies with protection engineers.
• Provide technical oversight across multiple projects; mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with project managers, drafters, civil/structural engineers, and field staff.
• Occasional site visits for scoping, verification, and commissioning.
• Stay current with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, and utility standards; explore IEC 61850 and new tech.
