Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead technical excellence across core consumer experiences, starting with Marketplace and Search. You will shape technical strategy, collaborate with engineering leaders, and drive scalable and reliable solutions.

You will mentor engineers, influence architectural choices, and coordinate with stakeholders to deliver high-impact initiatives in a remote-first environment across the United States.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience across the stack and backend architecture.
• Experience leading cross-team architectural initiatives across organizations.
• Strong ability to influence, communicate, and coach others toward technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the vision – Define the technical direction, long-term roadmap, and strategic initiatives in Marketplace, Search, Ads Platform, and App Experiences.
• Work with stakeholders across teams to implement technical excellence aligned with business results.
• Create ownership culture with high accountability for scalable, reliable systems.
• Guide and deliver user experiences that bring value quickly and reliably.
• Design, implement, and extend core platform components for new products and features.
• Architect decisions on platform, tools, and technologies for consistency and reliability.
• Mentor and lead engineers, promoting best practices and growth.
