Affirm is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead technical excellence across core consumer experiences, starting with marketplace and search. You will define the technical strategy, drive architectural decisions, and coordinate with stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable solutions across iOS, Android, and web.

You will champion an ownership culture, guide multiple teams through complex initiatives, and mentor engineers to ensure best practices and high-impact delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience across the stack with backend architectural improvements.
• Track record of leading critical projects and coordinating multiple engineering teams for company-wide results.
• Extensive experience developing and implementing technical strategy to improve reliability and responsiveness.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical direction, long‑term roadmap, and strategic initiatives in marketplace, search, ads platform, and app experiences.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across all teams to champion technical excellence and align with business results.
• Foster an ownership culture across teams with accountability for scale and efficiency.
• Guide and deliver critical user experiences that provide customer value quickly and reliably.
• Design, implement, and extend core platform components to enable new products and features.
• Architect and choose the right platforms, tools, and technologies for consistency and reliability.
• Mentor and lead engineers, promoting best practices and professional growth.
