Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Uber Tech Lead) for Identity & Access Management within Platform. You will own the multi-year technical strategy that unifies workforce, AI agent, and service/workload identity across 700+ internal systems.

You will set architecture, drive adoption with hundreds of engineering teams, and mentor staff to grow the IAM domain. This role requires deep IAM expertise and leadership at scale.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with senior platform leadership across multiple teams.
• Deep IAM expertise across workforce, authorization, access lifecycle, or non-human identity.
• Production Go experience and distributed systems design on AWS; fluency with identity protocols.
• Proven influence at senior levels and ability to align leadership on cross-org access risks.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technical strategy for IAM across workforce, AI agent, and service/workload identities.
• Drive architecture decisions across many pods and teams; establish standards and contracts.
• Lead adoption strategy for 700+ systems, including migration paths and make-vs-buy decisions.
• Translate audit/regulatory requirements into automated controls and evidence.
• Shape data models and tooling to answer who has access to what and why.
• Mentor staff and broaden identity-domain depth in the organization.
