Job summary

UpDoc, Inc. is seeking an experienced Software Quality Engineering Lead to build and guide the QA function for a clinically validated AI health platform.

This fully remote role involves defining risk-based testing across patient and provider workflows, APIs, and backend services, and partnering with Engineering and Regulatory to ensure rigorous verification. You will design automated test strategies, establish traceability, and drive evidence-based release readiness while growing the QA team in

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software quality engineering or a senior/lead role.
• Experience establishing or scaling software quality practices.
• Experience in regulated medical device or safety-critical software.
• Strong knowledge of verification, design controls, risk management and traceability.
• Hands-on test automation in Python/TypeScript/JavaScript or similar.
• Experience building automated testing frameworks over manual testing.
• Experience with modern web apps, REST APIs, and complex workflows.
• Proficiency with browser automation tools like Playwright, Cypress or Selenium.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead UpDoc's software quality engineering function and strategy.
• Own the risk-based test strategy across products, APIs, and workflows.
• Translate design controls and lifecycle requirements into verification practices.
• Establish traceability between requirements, risks, controls, and evidence.
• Design and maintain automated test frameworks and suites across the stack.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve testability and define verification methods.
• Investigate complex failures using code, logs, and debugging tools to improve coverage.
• Set defect documentation standards and release-readiness criteria.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD while maintaining regulated evidence.
• Improve test environments, data, tooling, metrics, and practices as the company grows.
• Foster a culture of shared responsibility for quality and reliability.
