Job summary

UpDoc, Inc. is building a physician-supervised AI for chronic disease management. We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own backend services, APIs, and integrations from a fully remote position in the United States.

You will work with clinicians and engineers to ensure reliable, compliant software in a fast-paced, healthcare-focused startup. You will contribute to Python-based backend development, API design, cloud deployments on Azure, and end-to-end project ownership while collaborating

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong Python with type hints and modern idioms.
• Ability to design reliable APIs and scalable systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps/IaC and containers.
• Proven testing practices and production troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to own projects end-to-end and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality backend systems in Python.
• Collaborate with frontend, product and other teams to scope backend features.
• Design internal and external APIs powering the UpDoc platform.
• Build integrations with third-party healthcare services.
• Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD and observability tasks.
• Participate in code reviews and resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with clinical experts to ensure reliability and trust.
