Job summary

MetLife Legal Plans is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a fully remote role based in the continental United States. You will lead the design, architecture, and technology choices for client-facing apps, APIs, and backend systems, guiding the full SDLC from concept to production support.

You will mentor mid-level and junior engineers, drive best practices, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, secure software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, MIS, or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience building web applications.
• Experience with Linux, microservices, and API design.
• Proficiency in React, Django, Postgres, and AWS.
• Experience with Docker-based environments and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and technology selection for client-facing apps, backend systems, and APIs.
• Build scalable web apps that support business growth and client needs.
• Own SDLC from discovery to production support.
• Develop high-quality code using modern frameworks and practices.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and plans.
• Establish standards and guidelines across the engineering team.
• Perform code reviews for quality and security.
• Design and implement integrations; connect internal/external systems.
• Evaluate emerging tech to improve performance and UX.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize work and deliver value.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and drive career development.
• Manage end-to-end software development projects with accountability.
