Job summary

System One is seeking a Rotating Machinery Subject Matter Expert for a long-term contract role. This remote–offsite position focuses on oversight of large nuclear fluid pumps and coordinating with partners on mechanical system designs for a Natrium reactor.

You will review analyses, integrate results into overall plant design delivery, and guide engineers on applicable design codes such as ASME, ANS, and IEEE, while ensuring schedule adherence and cross-discipline collaboration.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
• 10+ years direct experience with mechanical systems.
• 5+ years direct experience with pumps and rotating machinery.
• Experience with large vertical pump design and manufacture.
• Experience with full hardware lifecycle, from cradle to grave.
• Supplier/Contractor coordination and project management experience.
• Experience in high temperature and multi-discipline integration with nuclear handling process systems.
• Strong ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of first of multiple large nuclear fluid pumps through design and manufacture.
• Coordinate the review of analyses and integrate results into plant design delivery.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers in applicable design standards.
• Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages including P&IDs, 3D models, and system interface drawings.
• Establish and maintain system requirements and specification documents.
• Propose, initiate, and oversee testing programs for plant system qualification.
• Generate design packages for systems, sub-systems, and equipment designs including calculations and drawings.
