Job summary

Evident Change is seeking a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to lead complex development efforts for its web applications, focusing on Rails-based systems that support social service reporting and analysis. You will influence technical architecture, mentor engineers, and ensure scalable, secure, high-performing solutions.

You will collaborate across teams, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to tools that impact decision making and outcomes in social services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in full-stack software engineering.
• Experience developing full-stack web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Familiarity with Hotwire, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL, RSpec, FactoryBot.
• Advanced Git, code review workflows and CI/CD integration.
• Advanced SQL optimization and data modeling skills.
• Experience designing APIs and scalable systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, high-performance software systems.
• Lead design discussions and provide architectural guidance across complex development efforts.
• Conduct and lead code reviews, enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, supporting skill development.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, libraries, and frameworks to improve performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for reliability.
