Evident Change is seeking a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to lead complex development efforts for its web applications, focusing on Rails-based systems that support social service reporting and analysis. You will influence technical architecture, mentor engineers, and ensure scalable, secure, high-performing solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in full-stack software engineering.
• Experience developing full-stack web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Familiarity with Hotwire, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL, RSpec, FactoryBot.
• Advanced Git, code review workflows and CI/CD integration.
• Advanced SQL optimization and data modeling skills.
• Experience designing APIs and scalable systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Senior Full-stack Software Engineer

STATUS: Full time
LOCATION: Remote; work from anywhere within the United States

Are you interested in using Ruby on Rails to design and improve software systems that help social service professionals access meaningful and reliable data?

We seek a senior full-stack software engineer to lead complex development efforts for our web-based applications that support social service system reporting and analysis using Ruby on Rails. In this role, you will influence technical architecture, mentor engineers, and ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and high performing. You will collaborate across teams, contribute to continuous improvement, and help advance tools that directly impact decision making and outcomes in social services.

What will you do?

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, high-performance software systems that support Evident Change’s mission
• Lead design discussions and provide architectural guidance across complex application development efforts
• Conduct and lead code reviews, offering constructive feedback and enforcing coding standards and best practices
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, supporting skill development and technical growth
• Evaluate and recommend tools, libraries, and frameworks to improve development efficiency and system performance
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective technical solutions
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis to ensure system reliability and continuous improvement

Our Compensation and Benefit Offerings

The national average salary for this position ranges between $108,500 and $115,000 per year. Compensation within this range is dependent on experience, parity with peers, and where an employee lives.

• Advanced experience with Git, including code review workflows and CI/CD integration.

• Experience designing and building APIs and scalable systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor other engineers.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
