Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an experienced engineer for a remote, multi-site role. You must reside within 60 miles of a designated company location and be able to travel to facilities as needed.

You will lead data-driven projects to optimize production, maximize efficiency, and reduce costs across Smithfield, Eckrich and Nathan's Famous brands. Whether guiding small teams or owning critical portions of complex initiatives, you will collaborate with senior leaders to ensure designs meet standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field with 5+ years' experience.
• Knowledge of engineering principles in food processing and meat industry preferred.
• Ability to apply engineering principles to design and operational issues.
• PM and contract administration skills; experience with large multi-million-dollar projects.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering designs, specs, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate project activities with vendors, contractors, and plant teams to stay on schedule.
• Direct vendors on layout planning and utility requirements; maintain documentation.
• Prepare proposals, evaluate bids, monitor installations to meet specs and budgets.
• Manage project budgets and ensure financial targets are met.
