Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Senior Strategic Project Manager to design and manage complex production process optimization projects in the pork and packaged meat industry. You will apply engineering and mathematical principles, lead multiple teams, and proactively address external issues and vendor relations.

The role requires leadership, budgeting, scheduling, and scope control, with a focus on delivering results and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management or project leadership.
• Knowledge of engineering principles related to food processing and the meat industry is preferred.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling; contract administration.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and MS Word; strong communication skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication, planning, teamwork, and adaptability.
• Willingness to travel with extended overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple project teams to deliver on scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develops and executes the overall project plan with budgets, schedules, and risk management.
• Monitor schedules, scope and leadership routines to ensure project success.
• Provide oversight and guidance to ensure each project section is successful.
• Develop communication plans to keep stakeholders informed on status and issues.
