Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Senior Strategic Project Manager to design and lead technical projects for the pork and packaged meat industry. The role involves coordinating multiple teams, developing budgets, schedules, and scope while ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery.

Applicants should have an engineering background with 8+ years of experience, strong project leadership, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field plus 8+ years of experience
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership
• Knowledge of engineering principles related to food processing and meat industry preferred
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling
• Project Management, Contract Administration, and codes interpretation skills; experience with multi-million dollar projects
• Proficient in engineering economics
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard Office tools
• Excellent written and oral communication, planning, teamwork, and adaptability
• Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams
• Willingness to travel and support relocation as needed

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes the overall project plan including budget, schedule, risk management, and communications
• Maintains accurate cost estimates and controls budgets across sub-teams
• Develops and manages the project schedule and tracks milestones
• Develops preliminary engineering designs to meet project needs and manages scope creep
• Provides leadership to multiple teams and ensures oversight and guidance across project sections
• Develops communication plans to keep stakeholders informed and proactive in issue resolution
• Continuously improves robotic and controls knowledge to implement innovative solutions
• May perform other duties as assigned
