Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Research Scientist specializing in polymer synthesis for a fully remote position. You will lead independent research, design complex synthesis experiments, and characterize new polymer systems from your home lab while collaborating virtually with our R&D team.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in Polymer or Organic Chemistry, 7+ years post-doctoral experience, and deep expertise in polymerization techniques, analytical methods, and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• PhD in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with polymer synthesis focus.
• 7+ years post-doctoral research experience in polymer synthesis and characterization.
• Ability to independently design and execute complex research projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent research projects on design and synthesis of novel polymers.
• Develop and optimize polymerization techniques across various mechanisms.
• Characterize polymers using GPC/SEC, NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA.
• Investigate structure-property relationships to guide material development.
• Collaborate virtually with cross-functional teams and mentor junior researchers.
• Prepare detailed research reports and contribute to patents.
