Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S in Chemistry- NO PHD candidates
• Experience with general laboratory techniques such as reaction set-ups, precipitation, filtration, Schlenk techniques, distillation, closed transfer, crystallization, rotary evaporators, and vacuum pumps/ovens
• Perform analysis of compounds and reaction mixtures using common methods: (GPC, MALDI, HPLC, MS, UV/VIS, FT-IR, NMR, TLC, IR, GC-MS)
• Excellent organizational skills and accuracy in experimental documentation
• Good communication skills and willingness to participate in team discussion
• Involvement in process improvement and development of production and test methods
• Versatility in common IT applications (Microsoft office)
• Thrive in a team environment of shared goals and responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Conduct synthesis of polymers from laboratory gram-scale up to several hundred grams
• Synthesize simple small molecule monomers using standard organic chemistry techniques
• Use analytical tests to characterize products and ensure final product quality
• Document experiments and help in the preparation of technology transfer packages
• Follow written and verbal protocols from lead chemists and contribute to process improvements
• Maintain full compliance with all departmental and site‑specific Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality regulations, systems, and procedures covering laboratory and scale‑up activities
• Perform routine lab and business unit maintenance to keep area clean and orderly
• Maintain material database, inventory database and order chemical reagents from suppliers

Competencies

• Polymer chemistry knowledge. Anionic polymerization or air‑free synthesis techniques are a plus.
• Ability to evaluate safety risks and reactivity concerns in multigram scale multi‑step organic synthesis.
• Communicate effectively and provide support in a team setting.
• Must be highly detail-oriented and organized, able to work both independently and as a team player with a positive attitude.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
