Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Design Engineer Energy for a remote role based out of Oak Ridge, TN. The role leads chemical process design for nuclear facilities, directing teams and delivering innovative, high-impact engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience, PE licensure, and expert knowledge in flowsheets, P&IDs, and safety standards such as ASME B31.3, ISA-5.1 and IAEA. Excellent communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or similar.
• PE license required with multi-jurisdiction eligibility.
• 15+ years of experience; typical 20–25 years.
• Expert knowledge of chemical process design for nuclear facilities.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ISA-5.1, IAEA standards.
• Experience with construction/startup of process facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead functional teams for projects and manage milestones.
• Provide technical direction and high-level design solutions.
• Review designs for constructability and support startup.
• Represent the company’s technical work to clients and regulators.
• Develop and maintain firmwide standards and QA reviews.
• Coordinate with managers on staffing and recruitment in specialty area.
