Actalent is seeking a Senior PCB Designer to join a satellite constellation program. The role emphasizes defining and implementing spacecraft subsystems with a strong focus on Mentor Xpedition-based PCB layout, high-speed signals, and power integrity.

This remote position requires guiding cross-functional teams through design reviews, fabrication, and testing to ensure robust, space-grade PCB implementations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of PCB layout design experience
• Recent hands-on experience using Mentor Xpedition for PCB layout
• Strong proficiency in PCB layout design including component placement, routing, and stack-up definition
• Experience designing high-speed circuits with 5+ years in high-speed digital designs
• Experience with high current density PCB designs and thermal/reliability considerations
• Ability to manage multiple PCB design projects in parallel while meeting deadlines
• Experience coordinating 3rd party PCB layout services
• Experience testing and debugging boards using standard electronics lab equipment
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Demonstrable PCB design process experience from requirements through fabrication and test
• Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity in PCB design
• Proficiency with schematic capture tools and workflows for PCB design

Responsibilities

• Participate in definition and implementation of multiple spacecraft subsystems focusing on PCB design and layout
• Own PCB layout design activities using Mentor Xpedition and other industry tools
• Contribute to all phases of system design and production including concept, detailed design, verification, and release to manufacturing
• Apply knowledge of PCB design, assembly, test, and fabrication to ensure manufacturable board designs
• Design high-speed digital and high current density circuits ensuring signal and power integrity
• Translate electrical designs into optimized PCB layouts using schematic capture tools
• Manage multiple PCB design projects in parallel and prioritize tasks
• Coordinate and review 3rd party layout services and deliverables
• Test and debug boards using standard electronics lab equipment
• Participate in schematic and design reviews providing technical insights
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PCB designs into spacecraft subsystems
• Support design for manufacturing for space-environment PCBs
• Apply knowledge of PCB failure modes and reliability in extreme environments
• Contribute to development of IPC Class 2 and Class 3 boards
• Provide technical leadership to small teams of PCB design engineers
