Job summary

Kapta Space in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior PCB Designer to own architecture and layout of high-speed, RF, and power boards for spaceborne radar payloads. You will lead DFM/DFT activities and collaborate across mechanical, RF, and systems teams to ensure manufacturability and performance.

The role requires extensive experience with Altium Designer, impedance control, and high-reliability aerospace design practices.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Significant professional PCB layout experience.
• Principal-level contributor with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Expert proficiency in Altium Designer and constraint-driven design.
• Understanding of impedance control, differential routing, grounding, thermal management, EMI/EMC.
• DFM/DFM/DFT principles and vendor collaboration.
• Aerospace/defense hardware design familiarity (shock, vibration, radiation).
• Experience leading Altium toolchain integration and library management.

Responsibilities

• Design PCB layouts for high-speed digital, mixed-signal, RF front-end, and power boards for spaceborne radar payloads.
• Define and maintain board architecture, layer stack-ups, routing strategies for signal integrity and EMI/EMC compliance.
• Place and route complex multi-layer designs with BGAs, SERDES, DDR, FPGA, RF interconnects.
• Own full design lifecycle from schematic collaboration to fabrication support.
• Ensure mechanical compatibility with RF/thermal/system constraints and manufacturability.
• Oversee ECAD constraints, library management, and design-rule enforcement.
• Coordinate with vendors and partners for DFM/DFT and fabrication readiness.
• Support program milestones and occasional travel to fabrication/testing facilities.
