Job summary

Trident Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer specialized in PCB design for space-grade platforms. The role emphasizes leading complex layouts with Altium Designer, handling high-power, high-speed, RF/mixed-signal content, and DDR4/DDR5 interfaces.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in aerospace/defense environments, strong documentation discipline, and collaboration across engineering teams to deliver compact, manufacturable boards that meet stringent requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 6+ years of related experience.
• Expert-level proficiency with Altium Designer.
• Experience designing highpower, high-density PCBs with DDR4/DDR5 interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end PCB layout for digital, analog, RF, mixed-signal, high-speed and high-power designs using Altium Designer.
• Translate schematics, mechanical constraints, and system-level requirements into compact, manufacturable PCB layouts.
• Create and maintain PCB footprints, symbols, and component libraries within Altium Designer, aligned with IPC standards.
• Define stackup and impedance control for high-speed differential pairs, RF lines, and DDR4/DDR5 interfaces.
• Develop routing strategies for high-speed links, RF paths, and DDR4/DDR5 buses with length matching and crosstalk mitigation.
• Optimize layouts for thermal performance and current handling in high-power designs.
• Collaborate with electrical/mechanical engineers, manufacturing, and programs to balance size, power, signal integrity, RF performance and manufacturability.
• Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback to meet SI, PI, RF, reliability and regulatory requirements.
• Generate fabrication and assembly documentation (Gerber/ODB++), drawings, and build packages from Altium.
• Work in configuration-controlled environments with documentation, revision control, and release processes.
• Support prototype builds, debugging, and iterative design improvements for high-speed and high-power issues.
