Job summary

GE Vernova, Inc. is seeking a Senior Excitation Engineer to serve as the global technical authority for excitation control systems across the GE Vernova and legacy nuclear fleet.

You will drive modernization, reliability, and regulatory compliance for EX2000/EX2100 families in high-stakes nuclear environments, guiding field services during installation and commissioning, and mentoring staff on documentation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Master’s or PhD strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation engineering, with 5–8 years on excitation systems or mission-critical power plant controls.
• Exposure to Nuclear Safety Culture and nuclear-specific quality/documentation standards.
• Deep knowledge in synchronous generator theory and power system stability.
• Strong systems engineering capability to lead cross-functional integration efforts across excitation controls, generator systems, and nuclear requirements.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical roadmap for excitation systems in the global nuclear fleet, incl. obsolescence, digital upgrades and life-extension.
• Lead regulatory compliance and Nuclear Quality Management Systems.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis for high-priority nuclear disturbances.
• Model and simulate interaction between nuclear baseload and grid codes.
• Provide expert consulting for multi-million dollar nuclear retrofit tenders.
• Mentor engineers and develop documentation standards.
• Lead design reviews for New Product Introductions and V&V.
