UnitedHealth Group, operating through Optum, seeks a Senior Medical Coder to perform concurrent review of FFS coding within Epic, ensuring CPT and E/M codes are accurately billed for maximal reimbursement and minimal denials. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM.

Location: Remote Nationwide, US-based work flexibility to tackle challenging coding tasks. Required: High School Diploma/GED, coding certification (CPC/AHIMA), 3+ years of coding, ICD-10-CM/CPT/HCPCS knowledge and anatomy terminology,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AAPC/AHIMA coding certification (CPC, RHIT, CCS, etc.).
• 3+ years of coding experience.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers.
• Strong medical terminology and anatomy knowledge.
• Must meet deadlines and productivity targets.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes using CPT, ICD-10-CM, and guidelines.
• Interpret clinical documentation to identify codes.
• Generate queries for unclear documentation.
• Follow up with providers on queries.
• Use coding software and references to determine codes.
• Apply post-query responses to final determinations.
• Respond to audits and assist coding quality improvements.
• Manage multiple tasks to meet turnaround times.
