Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a remote Optum Coding Specialist to assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes for professional accounts from anywhere in the U.S. The role requires AHIMA/AAPC coder credentials and solid experience with ICD-10, CPT, and Epic EMR.

You will manage workloads, stay updated on coding changes, and maintain high accuracy under deadlines. Responsibilities include monitoring queues, generating clarification queries, and adhering to documentation guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC credentials, maintained annually.
• 2+ years of experience with Windows PCs including MS Excel and EMR systems.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to documentation and guidelines.
• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to all services.
• Monitors work queues to ensure timely coding and billing.
• Generates coding queries as needed for documentation clarification.
• Stay updated on coding changes and updates.
• Handle workload efficiently under deadlines with minimal supervision.
