Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking an IT Supervisor Senior to oversee daily IT operations for small to mid-sized teams supporting Public Safety applications. You will lead a team, coordinate with customers and vendors, manage budgets, and ensure security and disaster recovery compliance.

Responsibilities include developing staff, preparing reports, and driving process improvements while maintaining high-quality customer service for Police and Forensic Science divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with two years of supervisory experience in a related field (experience may substitute for education)
• Experience managing information technology staff and budgets
• Knowledge of security and disaster recovery practices

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced technical leadership and coordinates with City departments, customers, and vendors
• Oversees daily IT operations for small to medium teams and ensures service quality
• Develops training programs and prepares management and productivity reports
• Prepares operating budgets and reviews expenditures and procurement documentation
• Ensures compliance with City personnel, security, and department procedures
• Leads performance management, coaching, and staff development
• Researches and evaluates complex IT products for potential adoption
