Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking a Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our Power team. This role can be performed from anywhere in the United States.

You will conduct hydrological analyses, apply hydrotechnical modeling, and design hydraulic systems for river projects while preparing regulatory submissions. The position requires 6+ years in consulting engineering, a Civil Engineering degree, and PE registration in the US or Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE (Professional Engineer) registration in the US or Canada required.
• 6+ years of consulting engineering experience.
• Expertise in hydrotechnical engineering and hydraulic structures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365; advanced Excel is a plus.
• Experience with hydrological modeling, sediment transport, and hydraulic analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological assessments including low-flow analysis and flood flow statistics.
• Develop and apply hydrotechnical models to generate analyses and summaries.
• Perform hydraulic design for river engineering projects (weirs, intakes, dams).
• Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions to support permitting.
• Conduct energy and economic evaluations for hydropower projects.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on hydropower projects ($10M–$400M).
• Support ongoing professional development and maintain discipline knowledge.
