Job summary
SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility-scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The Senior Commissioning Engineer leads testing, commissioning and initial energization for HV substations, BESS and PV facilities, with about 20–30% travel.
The role acts as senior technical authority, providing oversight, mentoring, and ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years in testing, commissioning and energization of HV substations, BESS and PV facilities.
- 5+ years leading commissioning/energization on complex utility-scale projects.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience reviewing protection, relay testing and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Attend owner and stakeholder meetings as requested by the Commissioning Manager.
- Develop Testing & Commissioning plans aligned with project specs.
- Develop and execute energization procedures for HV substations, BESS, and PV systems.
- Review protection philosophies, relay settings and commissioning strategies.
- Lead substation energization activities and field coordination.
- Provide post-energization support and troubleshoot system issues.
