Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and initial energization for utility-scale HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities. The role involves 20–30% travel and field operations, serving as the senior technical authority and mentoring Commissioning Engineers across multiple projects.

The position requires a PE license or ability to obtain, 10+ years in relevant commissioning activities, and strong experience with protection, control, and harmonic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years in testing, commissioning, energization of HV substations, BESS, PV facilities.
• Minimum of 5 years leading commissioning/energization on complex projects.
• Minimum of 2 years engineering leadership or supervision.

Responsibilities

• Attend owner, utility, and stakeholder meetings as requested by the Commissioning Manager.
• Develop Testing & Commissioning plans aligned with project specs and interconnection requirements.
• Develop, review, and execute Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS, and PV systems.
• Serve as engineering authority for complex commissioning issues.
• Review protection philosophies, relay settings, and energization strategies for readiness.
