Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and energization of utility-scale HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities. The role requires 20–30% travel and active field operations, serving as the technical authority and mentoring a commissioning team.

You will coordinate with Owners, Utilities, OEMs, and internal teams, develop energization plans, review protection schemes, and deliver high-quality commissioning deliverables consistent with contract

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; PE preferred or can be obtained.

Responsibilities

Attend Owner, Utility, and stakeholder meetings as requested by the Commissioning Manager (PM).
Develop Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Plans aligned with project specifications and industry standards.
Develop, review, and execute Detailed Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS, and PV systems.
Serve as engineering authority for complex commissioning issues requiring technical evaluation.
Review protection/relay philosophies and commissioning strategies for readiness and safety.
Support switching procedures, LOTO, Permit to Work, Red Rope, and SUT programs.
Lead initial substation energization activities and field coordination.
Perform HV switching operations for energization and commissioning.
Review and approve commissioning reports and ensure conformance to specs and acceptance criteria.
Document root cause findings and coordinate corrective actions with closure verification.
Provide post-energization support, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Lead investigations and provide technical leadership to engineering staff.
