Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning and energization of utility-scale HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities. This role involves travel (20–30%) and close collaboration with Owners, Utilities, OEMs and field teams.

You will develop energization procedures, supervise engineers, mentor staff, and ensure safety and compliance with industry standards. This is a fully remote position with location details discussed in the interview process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of commissioning, testing, and energization experience on utility-scale HV substations, BESS, or PV facilities.
• Minimum 5 years leading or serving as primary technical engineer for commissioning on complex projects.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend owner, utility, and stakeholder meetings as requested by the Commissioning Manager.
• Develop Testing & Commissioning plans aligned with project specs and interconnection requirements.
• Develop and execute Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS, and PV systems.
• Lead engineering authority for complex commissioning issues and verify readiness for safe energization.
• Review protection philosophies and relay settings to identify risks and ensure compliance with specs.
