J.S. Held LLC is seeking an experienced User Experience Research or Human Factors Manager with an independent book of business to join our Human Factors team, focusing on medical device or healthcare UX.

The role emphasizes business development alongside high-level research, mentoring, and strategic growth. You will lead quantitative and qualitative studies, market and propose projects, and translate findings into actionable client outcomes while potentially contributing to litigation-related

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Experimental, Developmental, Perceptual, or Cognitive Psychology or related field preferred.
• 5–10 years of industry experience and managing client projects.
• Alternatively, Master’s + 10 years of industry experience.
• Existing book of business and strong client relationships.
• Entrepreneurial drive and passion to succeed.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ownership of empirical research from study inception to interpretation.
• Excellent inferential statistics and data analytic skills.
• Possible interest in litigation support and/or forensic work or existing practice as a testifier.

Responsibilities

• This role has a strong and immediate business development component.
• Lead study design, execution, data analysis, and report preparation for multiple projects.
• Hire and mentor junior staff.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Potentially serve as a testifying expert in litigation.
• Demonstrate tenacity, endurance, creativity, and ownership with autonomy.
